Help! Cold Outbound Emails Going to Spam – What Should We Do?

Hey folks,

I came across this community through Bookface and wanted to get your thoughts on something we’re struggling with.

We recently ramped up our outbound efforts (about 2.5 weeks ago), and results were initially great. Our open rates were strong about 50% on individual emails, and 63% across 5-email sequences but we’re now seeing issues with deliverability. In fact, Google temporarily suspended the email address we were using for outbound, labeling it as “sending spam.” Internal forwards from that address are even going to spam within our own company.

We didn’t do a proper warm-up. I assumed our low volume (about 150 emails per weekday, peaking at 300 once) wouldn't require it, but combined with our 5-email sequences, the volume added up. We’re using Hubspot CRM to automate emails, which sends through our Gmail account. Besides setting up DMARC, we hadn’t done much else in terms of technical configuration. Bounce rate is currently around 4%.

Would love to hear how others handled similar issues. Thanks in advance!
