Even google wasn't able to explain this, we're confused...

Hello, we've run into a very frustrating situation, and we appreciate it if we got some insights. We don't do much outbound email at all. We've got an account creation details flow and two email drips that come from our crm. And then we have our own work email accounts.

About three weeks ago, we noticed that all our emails from our domain were flagged as spam by gmail--the ones from our crm and the ones from our work email addresses. We noticed this cause our initial email from crm has over a 50% open rate, but in 3 days, it fell to 13%. I also noticed that folks who had applied for jobs were not responding to my email to schedule a time to talk. We spoke with Google Workplace support and they told us to set up SPF/DKIM/DMARC. We got that taken care of 5 days later.

For a period of time thereafter, we seemed to be hitting inbox. But we noticed problems again two weeks later. I contacted Workspace support and they didn't understand why emails from my work account are being flagged as spam. The emails are fully authenticated, I don't have any signature, I get a 9.5/10 from mail-tester, etc. It's also not 100% consistent. I can email a Gmail address and go to spam, then email a few hours later and it hits inbox. Workspace had me forward them full emails with headers to escalate to engineering. That was 4 days ago and no response from google since.

I tested some emails today and same thing emails from my account and from my cofounder's account go to spam. Another weird thing we noticed is that Google Postmaster tools stopped collecting data for our domain on Feb 5 at least it seems that way.

So, a few questions:

  • Do you have any idea what's going on? Our emails get through fine to Yahoo, Outlook, Aol, etc. It's just gmail and Google Workspace that is a problem
  • Is there an easy way for me to test and see if emails fro my work email account and from our crm are going to spam or not? Right now, I created a few gmail accounts that I'll email periodically to test, but would love an easier way to do this

Thank you for your time. As you can imagine, email issues are very frustrating, especially when it seems to be a black box and I can't get a straight answer from Google as to what is actually going on. Thank you in advance!
